Impartiality

Today we look at the next quality of Heavenly Wisdom:

Wisdom is first of all

Pure

then peace loving

sweetly reasonable

approachable and submissive

full of mercy,

full of good fruit,

and IMPARTIAL.

Impartial means to treat everyone the same. This is what Jesus did with His disciples. There was impetuous Peter, doubting Thomas, the sons of Thunder, the despised tax collector Matthew, and lying, stealing betraying Judas. If you read carefully you will see that Jesus treated them all the same: crying, gracious, kind, and patient (very patient!). And this inspire of knowing how each would abandon him, some betray him, and all doubt him, forgetting that He would rise from the dead. He did not betray them!

James speaks of the importance of being impartial: "Suppose a man comes into your meeting wearing a gold ring and fine clothes, and a poor man in filthy old clothes also comes in. If you show special attention to the man wearing fine clothes and say, 'Here's a good seat for you,' but say to the poor man, 'You stand there' or 'Sit on the floor by my feet,'  have you not discriminated among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts?” 2:1-4.

Do we greet the odd person with the same kindness as an obviously well to do one? It is not natural to be impartial, but it is wise!

Picture: would we treat the beggar the same as handsome Cody?
