Rapid Safety

“The LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.”

Psalm 46:7

We certainly have been privileged to live here in the Middle East for the last two years. Although it’s been difficult at times, we are glad to be here where God wants us.  He has given us a much larger vision of what He is like, changing our perspective on problems.

Instead of looking at them as hills to climb, bringing discouragement and exhaustion, He has taught us to look at them as rapids in a river through which He guides us. Every moment there is an unexpected turn, and we must perform to our utmost while the Lord is the One who takes our obedience and carries us through. “The Lord is my shepherd” has taken on new and richer meaning for us as He shepherds us through the rapids of life.

His title, “Lord Almighty” (“Lord of Hosts” in the King James) has also been very comforting for us: He has never, in the end, lost a battle, never been defeated and never will. As our hearts are right and as we wait on Him, He fights for us. Tomorrow I will tell you how He does this.
