Shielded

Psalm 31:15 “My times are in your hands;”
[A strong declaration of God’s great powers, of His sovereignty at work--and of our weakness. We cannot control our times, our lives or the events that come into them. But, God actively, intimately and lovingly works to bring to us what is best for us--both in the big picture and in the tiny details. This is a further reason to trust Him fully through praise before any answer to our cry comes.
As it says in Psalm 33:18-20 "...the eyes of the LORD are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love, to deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine. We wait in hope for the LORD; he is our help and our shield."]
He not only helps us, He personally is our shield. I picture us stranded on an island in a river. The enemy is attacking; we are vulnerable and there is no way of escape. But God reaches down his hand, scooping up the whole island (our help) and holds his had over us, shielding us from the slings and arrows of the enemy. And he carries us off to a safe place.
As it says in Psalm, 33:10,11, “The LORD foils the plans of the nations; he thwarts the purposes of the peoples. But the plans of the LORD stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations.”
God has a plan and we can trust Him to carry it out, no matter how bad it may look at the moment. It only takes a commitment on our part to trust.
